America On My Mind
America On My Mind is a homage to the United States of America, the continent where the saxophone and its variety of timbres have been exploited most fully. The programme, of twentieth century music, comprises works by composers who have used the saxophone in classical repertoire as a link to the new sounds of swing or ethnic music.
There are also references to jazz and its various evolutions. A programme with plenty of variations in mood, in constant transition between different genres and intentionally switching between classical music and jazz, recalling the history of the saxophone, portrayed for us in this concert by the Saxofollia quartet.
